Raise your street style cred in seconds.
What's a banker stripe button-down? Oh, you mean the blue and white striped shirt that just about everyone (and your hot Wall Street crush) is wearing? Okay, got it.
Fashion girls around the globe are sporting this androgynous trend on the reg - but why? One word: versatility. It's a go-with-everything basic staple; but with basic of course comes boring. I took this trend to the streets and (literally) unbuttoned a few styling tricks. R.I.P. to that basic button down you used to see, its days are over. I unbuttoned a few buttons and draped the shirt off my shoulders to seamlessly create an off-the-shoulder look in seconds.
I wore my no-longer-basic banker with nude pleated culottes, paired with bright white pointed heels, statement socks, and topped it with an oversized mustard cardigan*. No, I didn't forget - I swung a graphic bag over my shoulder. Grab a slogan bag that speaks to you, graphic accessories are an easy way to spark interest while adding major sass to your look. Buying my shirt a little oversized allowed for a dramatic bell-shaped cuff, which made the design seem slightly more intricate than it was (uhm, cool). Leaving it untucked exaggerated the effortless boyfriend look, infamous of most street style stars.
I'm a total sucker for contrast and statement pieces. If you're a little more on the conservative side this shirting can be easily paired with anything from jeans to leggings. You can top it with a neutral overcoat and totally ditch the sparkly socks, all while still being your best street style self.
*Disclaimer: cardigan negates off-the-shoulder look, but layering is also cool and I was cold.
